how do i uninstall or disable hp mediasmart?

I have a Pavilion Desktop PC p6230y running Windows 7 64-bit. And I do not like HP MediaSmart and want to disable or uninstall it. When I try to uninstall it thru my Control Panel I get a Error message which says: Error!! Product Definitation file lost

Hi,

 

Download and run this update and then try to uninstall Mediasmart again. This has a fix for uninstall/reinstall problem. Just create a System Restore Point before running the update..

I tried the update but it did not work. After downloading and installing I get a message that says: Your system does not meet the requirements of this update. Update has been cancelled (9996)

 

Any other ideas?  Thanks  DJ
