hp pavilion dv6446us laptop on xp

i have a pavilion dv6446us laptop with a intel centrino duo core cpu and two gigs of ram and it has a sata hdd, how do i install xp on it and install sata drivers for it (i don't have a floppy drive and no floppy disks) and i don't want to use nlite.

Have you tried turning off Enhanced SATA support and then try install Windows XP?

You are in the desktop forum... offhand, you can try an external floppy drive... other than that don't think you can do it without nLite (unless someone knows of aonther tool). http://www.digitgeek.com/how-to-slipstream-sata-drivers-into-xp-cd/

Enter Bios setup by tapping F10 key at startup.If you have the option in Bios setup to disable Native sata mode,XP will install with no problem,no sata driver needed.It will be on System Configuration tab.

If you don't have the setting in Bios,this is the sata driver for your machine:

Download and run it,make a floppy OR cancel floppy creation.The files will be extracted to C:\Swsetup\sp37005 to use with Nlite.

You can use Nlite to integrate the drivers into a new XP install cd.Nlite will even burn the new XP cd.

i went into the bios and disabled sata support and now i'm running xp and it's running good.

Congratulations on the XP success. If you are missing any drivers, your model uses XP drivers from DV6000T
