installion of the 64b over the same Home Premuim Vista 32b

I have a desktop that originally have 32b H.P. Vista (Home Premuim Vista) and still do when the first 6 months of the Vista switch from XP

I like to know if there is a hp version of the CD 64b or if I can upgrade to a 64b which my other 2 better and faster computers

is faster and i noticed the 64b are more secure and also faster than 32b

But if HP CD Version of the 64b is not availible can I install the H.P. Vista 64b cd or dvd disc doing an overlay install without overwriting the HP stuff

I am aware of the computer spec of the something that of the x2 dual core?

which I believe I can put a 64b Vista and it is capable

please let me know if it is possible

If your computer has a 64-bit processor, then you upgrade to Vista 64-bit. Next time you post, you should put in the model number of your PC.

Installation choices for 64-bit consumer versions of Windows Vista

I would not recommend upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit with an upgrade copy; rather, I would purchase a full copy of the OS.

Please see that MSKB document, the relevant portion is as follows, which tells me that it MAY be possible to upgrade directly from 32-bit to 64-bit if done correctly:

Upgrading a 32-bit operating system to a 64-bit operating system If you purchase a 64-bit upgrade version of Windows Vista with the intention of installing on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system, you must install Windows Vista by starting the computer from the 64-bit Vista installation DVD.

Important Do not remove the previous operating system before you start the Windows Vista installation. This is because Windows Vista Setup has to verify that your current operating system license supports the installation of a 64-bit upgrade version.

Re: installion of the 64b over the same Home Premuim Vista 32b

thanks for the info

what i am more concern about certain software and or hardware that is not hp

such as like burning software that maybe a license issue

i dont want to spend more time and money to get what was already there

and ended have to add what is lost

window OS install cd or dvd will overwrite most of every except document unless format and or full clean install

but you have given me some very good input

i might have to consider to wether to put 64b and end up getting additional stuff

or just leave it alone since i have 2 other faster computers that is 64b  beside this one which is 32b
