Hi, I am helping a friend with her media center m7640n. I had to wipe her drive clean b/c of viral infection. I didn't had a chance to create the recovery CD's. I got all the drivers install ok except now i have a unknow device in device manager saying unknown device on Microsoft ACPI bus. Can anybody enlighten me on what that is? tx

The PC's specs state it comes with Windows Media Center 2005, correct?
Try this driver first:
If that driver didn't work and If you installed the above operating system or XP, please click on the missing ACPI device in the device manager.
Then click on the details tab.
Post the top string of characters you see.
Hopefully those will give me more info to go on, and I can send you the link to the driver you need.

That is the dreaded AMD Away Mode driver that is missing.
I have attached the file you need.
Just unzip it and run it.

I ain't giving up that easy...
Try this one. You will need to load it from the device in the device manager as it is the raw driver.
Unzip and save those 2 files to a folder where you remember where it is.
Click on the ACPI device in the device manager. Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver. Select the manual search method and browse to that folder. Select the AMDAway.inf file to load.
