my computer shuts down if someone is on the phone how do i fix?

I have  dsl  on my  pc.  My  old compacq  worked  fine  when  the phone was in  use.  with my new one  if  the  phone is in use  i  get  disconnected.  How do i  fix?

Hi

 

Do you use same line or separate lines ? If same line have you installed filter(s) on it ? The best option is install a central splitter/filter in the house. You need a line filter.

I was having a problem recently where my dsl disconnected every time the phone rang. It was a problem in the lines..AT&T had to fix it.

The next time it disconnects look at the lights on your modem.If the dsl light is off or blinking then your modem has lost connection due to  interference on the line..nothing to do with your new PC.
