what's the difference between "sleep" and "hibernate" and which is better for the computer?

Refer the following weblink for explanation of Sleep and Hibernate modes:

If you are away for a long time, i would suggest hibernate. But if you are away only for a short while and want the system to wake up fast, I would suggest sleep.
