remapping memory to utilize 64bit Windows 7 capability to handle ram of more than KGB

To use more than KGB ram I need to remap the memory on a m7330n that originally came with XP but I am now running Win7 64bit on. The processor is an AMD Anthon 64 x 2 core, socket 939 on the factory installed mother board,  ASUS A8AE-LE (Amberine M-GL68), BIOS Phoenix Award 8 ver. 3.47.

Is there a procedure or software solution to do this?

Re: remapping memory to utilize 64bit Windows 7 capability to handle ram of more than KGB

Hi stuck_in_a_rut,

Can you please clarify what you mean by KGB?  (I'm assuming you're not referring to the Russian secret service.. :smileywink:)

Although I am an HP Employee, the advice given here is my own, and not necessarily that of HP's.

Your motherboard has a hardware limitation of 4 GB (of which ~3.5 is addressable). You cannot change the memory architecture of the motherboard.

If you are simply looking for information on how to re-allocate shared video memory - you can look in the BIOS for a setting, but almost all HP PCs has this done automtaically at the system level.

Re: remapping memory to utilize 64bit Windows 7 capability to handle ram of more than KGB

Thanks KGB typo meant 4 GB ram unit currently using only 3.25 on Win 7 64bit.  Understand the Mother Broard has limitted to 4GB total minus video card, sound card etc.

I am  assuming HP has no BIOS update or Chipset to change this available. So my options are to live with it or ger another computor.

Thanks again.

Remapping memory to utilize 64bit Windows 7 capability to handle 8GB

Hi

I have the same problem. Almost. I have purchased 2 x4Gb DDRIII DIMM memory for my CQ5301DE.

It says here "Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs", but I have a 64 bit Win 7.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01977966&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...

Would it be possible for me to have all 8Gb memory working, because right now it sees 8Gb but "usable 3.5Gb".

I found that by remapping the memory, this issue might be addressed, but, couldn't find the way to do that in BIOS. Wanted to update my Bios, but there was no update available..

i'm stuck, please help
