How do I remove a lot of the stuff that is added to my Compaq Presario SR1365CL that I do not use? Is the "D" drive the ram, additional storage, or what? Will formating it help the pc run faster?

Hi:
Most likely the D drive is your recovery partition.
If you delete that you will need to have a set of recovery disks in order to reinstall the operating system.
It is not unusual for that drive to show close to full. You should not defrag it.
You can to to your system tools folder and first run a disk cleanup followed by running the disk defragmenter tool on the C:\ drive to squeeze a little more performance out of your PC.
The best thing to improve speed is to add more physical memory if you can.
