I have a Pavilion Elite e9140f that I upgraded from a factory Vista 64 install to Win7 64 using HP Upgrade Assistant.
The Windows Offline help content is scrambled, such that if I open help, the displayed entry is:
"__elbasuer__
If you join the Microsoft SpyNet community, and if Windows Defender detects software on your computer that has not yet been classified for risks, you might be asked to send a sample of the software to Microsoft SpyNet for analysis. When you're prompted, Windows Defender displays a list of files that can help analysts determine if the software is malicious. You can choose to send some or all of the files in the list. For information about joining SpyNet, see Join the Microsoft SpyNet community."
Also, if use the context-driven help link on any windows configuration page, the help topic displayed does not correspond to the actual context. For Example the Help & Support answer for "Is this process reversible" in System Restore, displays the information on "Changing the appearance of your displays."
It seems to me there is placeholder information, and the Help & Support index is not in-synch with the content. Corrupted?

I have seen unofficial sulutions involving editing the registry ...
Found the official solution as well - unfortunately there is no description of the issue to confirm what the "Windows 7 Help & Support Update" really is. I installed it and it works.

I just ran across this problem myself today, alot of sites on Google recommended a registry hach to fix. There fix was to remove a bluetooth entry. My PC does not have bluetooth and did not have the dword listed. Anyway was researching
more and found that when you open Help and support, Go to the top right and open Options and go to settings.Click the top box "Improve my search results by using online help" recommended. Reopen Help and Support and now is working correctly. Hope this helps and works for you

Windows Help is back in full glory once I uninstall HP Support Assistant.
This takes a lot out of the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Assistance\Client\1.0\Namespac
HP needs to provide a Windows Help & Support Update for notebooks to fix this problem.
The link in the above post seems dead, and a search of HP support reveals only sp44411.exe that installs only on desktop machines!

HP Support Assistant ver 5.1.10.7 seems to have fixed the clash with Windows Help.
