Compaq Presario SR1123WM-B Graphical volume control bars

The green volume control bars no longer display on my screen when I hit the volume up or down buttons on the keyboard. Does anyone know how to get it back? Thanks

Hi justdilly,

It sounds like something changed in your keyboard driver, like maybe an update of some kind. Try un-installing the keyboard driver and then reinstalling it.

If that doesn't work, try the steps in the HP Keyboard Troubleshooting document.

Thanks Mister_Do for your response. I went to Device Manager, clicked on the keyboard, Enhanced Mulmedia ps/2 keyboard and uninstalled the driver. Then shut down my PC and restarted. I then downloaded and installed the driver per your instructions (SP26752.exe) but that did not solve the problem. My problem was not listed in the troubleshooting either.

I have volume. I just want to get back the graph that appears on screen when I hit the volume up or down buttons on my keyboard. The graphical display looks similar to the volume up/down bar that is displayed on the TV screen when I adjust the TV volume. The bars would increase when I turned up the volume and decrease when I hit the down button.

If I remember correctly, I had this problem a few years ago and someone at HP told me of a Patch to download to fix the problem. I hope I have given you and others enough additional info.

Scroll down and please follow the steps which are under "Step 2: Customize the text that displays onscreen". Make sure you ther is no mark next to "Hide the

display label".

Do you see the Buttons tab in Keyboard properties window? start->control panel->double click Keyboard. Are you able to use other multimedia keys on the keyboard?

Yes, I have the Buttons tab. The only multimedia buttons on this Compaq keyboard are "sleep", volume up, down and mute. Those volume keys work but I don't have the green on screen volume display bars that I used to have. I'm trying to get that display back.

TechHope.............WOW! Thank You so much! That worked! You don't know how many different forums and people I've asked to help me with this. I even had many e-mails to and from HP support. Thanks for sticking with me to find a solution. My hope is that you will become a PC Tech very soon if you aren't already.

This volume display is not as pretty as the one I had. Is there some way to change the color and height of the volume bars? I'm not touching anything until you get back with me on that because what I got is sure better than nothing. Yippee
