DV6 Audio Problem

I just bought an hp dv6-6186nr but the thing is that when I play music sounds it doesnt have any bass, and also the system sounds, are by far higher than the music I tried messing around with the beats but just get a little better, my old compaq computer sounded better, Are there any settings that I might need to change or it is the speakers the ones that don't work???
