Disable keyboard volume popup display

Windows 7 Home Premium

Pavilion Elite e9237c-b

How do I disable the popup display of the volume when adjusting it with the keyboard volume controls on the Model KG-0851 keyboard?  Although I love this feature most of the time when running many web videos such as watching a live NASCAR race hitting the volume control causes the video to go back to a small window instead of staying full screen.  I realize this really isn't an HP problem but sure would like to know if there is an easy way to toggle the display of the volume bar on screen off and on.  Even if I have to edit the registry I could easily create a toggle script.

P.S. I've gone through all the sound control options and manual and didn't see anything to do it but it is possible I just missed the option somewhere.

Re: Disable keyboard volume popup display

Have you checked under Keyboard settings in Control Panel?

Yes, just standard things like key repeat rate.

Re: Disable keyboard volume popup display

Your model has the HP MediaSmart Software doesn't it? Does it also have HP MediaSmart SmartMenu? If so that software usually causes the problem you are having.

Go to Start,  Run box, type in msconfig and hit OK. In the window that opens, go to the Startup tab and uncheck 'HP MediaSmart SmartMenu'.

Thank you, that worked and the keyboard controls still work without the pop-ups that killed my movies or games.
