Funny thing about Pavilion sound problems

Funny thing about my sound quality in my HP Pavilion--I can hear just fine with my headset, but the sound just by itself is awful.  I cannot understand what anyone is saying on demos, can't hear the words in songs and TV. I have ordered speakers to install. If that doesn't work, I have no idea what else to do.

Am I doomed to not having great sound like I had with Windows XP.  I didn't ask to have to get another computer. Mine crashed unexpectedly. I had no choice. I guess sometimes life is not fair. I loved my other computer.  Who knew what would happen.

Is there anything I can do?  Can anyone help?

I did not get any replies las time when I left a message. I guess there is no help.  Did I buy the wrong computer? I don't know. I just paid a lot of money for something that doesn't work right. And do you know what one person told me when I had a problem? "Come back in about 2 weeks when we know more about Vista." Great! Not even the experts know how to help. I guess I'll just have to figure out the problem myself. I cannot afford to invest any more money in more computer "repairs".

[ Edited ]

Whoever said that to "come back after 2 weeks when we know more about vista" should not provide support. Honestly.

Vista has been out for 2 years roughly and I've used it for the last 2.5 years while it was still in the BETA stage and i'm currently testing windows 7 as we speak so no it's not that NEW.

What I first need is your computer model number so I can lookup the sound card and OS type if it's x32 or x64.

I got a few questions for you:

1) How old is the pc?

2) Did the sound ever work fine before?

3) Have you tried to update your driver or reinstall the original driver by going to hp.com and search for your pc model?

4) Have you tried the front and back green audio ports and see if it makes a difference.

Most likely the speakers will sound just the same as the headphones will.

What I would do in that case is run a System Recovery if you don't have a lot personal data and start from scratch and then if the problem is still there then you may need to have the sound card/motherboard replaced with a new one and you should call the 800-HPINVENT support number and let them know what's going on and the steps you did.

Reply back when you can. Thanx.

Re: Funny thing about Pavilion sound problems

Hi!

I am repying back about my sound on my computer.

It is a brand new HP Pavilion Slimline s3600f bought 12-1-2008)

Has Realtek High Definiton Audio

I use Windows Vista Home Premium and I have Windows 2007 software

I did do a system recovery and re-installed the original driver

I did read my manual and I think the speakers I ordered will do fine (I hope). They have 2 speakerrs with a main speaker with a control button. I  think the problem was, it that it only had one green plug from the monitor to the computer. These speakers (from HP) have more cables and a two-plug cord.  The speakers I am buying are HP 30 wat 2.1 speaker system which means I have more cables to connect to my computere. In my manual, the cord that came with my computer only supported a limited amount of control. These come very highly rated and I actually called the HP Home and Office Store and they said they would be fine and they would help me set them up and configure them with me. So I wiill try them. I did not have much control over some features and the sound was in the back.

I think HP will hlep me with them, but I know it they don't work to my satisfaction, they will make sure I get the right ones and help me with them.

Let's just try and see!

Thanks for you response and your help. I will come back if I have any more problems!  :smileyhappy:
