HP 8000 Elite CMT displayport to hdmi audio

Hi,

Trying to connect my HP 8000 Elite to my Samsung TV using HDMI.

HP 8000 is running Windows 7 32 bit

I get picture but no sound.

Tried every possible thing I can think of.

Updated BIOS, sound and graphics drivers to no avail.

In the Control Panel, sound control I don't have any options to choose audio out to the TV.

Have tried the control panel for the Realtek HD Audio - but don't seem to find anything useful there either..

Does anyone know if the Displayport on the HP 8000 Elite support audio?

Can't seem to find any useful answer in the HP whitepapers...

Any input is welcome

Hi:

To the best of my knowledge the Elite 8000 does not support audio out from the display port. I have not heard of any HP business PC's/noteboks that support audio out from the display port.

I think you are absolutely right!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to try out a brand new HP 8200 Elite - to see if it would work with its onboard Displayport..

It worked without problems.

That way I could rule out the adapter from displayport to HDMI (and of course the cable it self) - and conclude that it must be the Elite 8000 that doesn't support audio out from the displayport.

Upon connecting the TV to 8200 Elite - I get two options in the sound control.

I can choose either "local" speakers or choose HDMI Output.

When connecting the TV to 8000 Elite - I never get that option (and all the drivers are as previous mentioned updated)

I haven't had the opportunity to try out a HP 8100 Elite yet (I work at a helpdesk and have access to a wide range of different HP computers) - but it could be interesting to see if it works or not.

My conclusion:

HP 8000 Elite - no audio via displayport

HP 8100 Elite - ?

HP 8200 Elite - audio via displayport

Hello, we also have an 8200 elite sff with WIN 7 x64 but we aren`t able to get sound from the display port. How did you solve this?! We only have one option in the sound control. We get the picture over display port, but no sound...

we don`t have an external video card in the pc, we use the onboard grafic of the chipset / cpu (core i7). here are two screens: 

all drivers are installed properly...

I tried to edit my post and delete it earlier. Apparently it did not work.  The forum is currently experiencing a few problems.

You can put a low profile low powered video card ( 1GB DDRAM w/ passive cooling) with an HDMI and DVI output  to have an HDMI output that does work.  There are only specific video cards that will work in a slimline if that is what your Elite 8000 PC is. That is because of the power supply limitations.

hmm, i hope there is an other solution than buying an extra video card for the PC ...
