I am currently considering the purchase of a new HP Pavilon Computer. I understand that the machine comes with the Vista Operating System pre-installed. However, I do not get a installation disk for Vista. This means that should I need to reinstall Vista I will be unable to do so. I feel this is a major short coming in the product. From previous machines that I have owned, I find that during the life of the machine, something often goes wrong and I need to resintall the O.S. Please comment.
Thanks
Bob Sherry

Although I agree with you that customers should get a Windows disk, hp like many makers, now 'give' you either Recovery disks, or apartition on the 'c' drive form which you , theoreticlly may either do a system restore or burn your own Recovery disks.
You only get one shot at burning therecovery disks for some reason.
I especially do not like this as my ISP provides McAfee, and hp provides Nortons. They do not play well together. Removing ALL of Nortons required going to Nortons as hp did not have the program needed. I had to go through that twice. I used True Image to burn a later version of my system, but there are some bugs that I can't get out. I am afraid to try again. I am exploring getting all drivers etc, to down[?]grade to WinXP.
Good luck.
