No sound from my M8095A!

Hi all,

I am currently using a HP M8095A desktop Multimedia PC, but I am having a small problem with it ... It seems as though I am getting no analogue sound! I get sound come through the HDMI, yet for some reason, I am unable to get sound through the front or rear speaker ports.

I have taken the following action with no luck:

- Uninstall and reinstall drivers

- System restore

- Windows and HP updates

- Microsoft HotFix

- Changed all the audio output configurations (all I can get is HDMI, it doesn't even give me an option for speakers)

In my device manager, I am showing an unknown device simply labelled "Multimedia Controller" that claims to have no installed drivers and is configured incorrectly.

The sound card is on board and not PCI-E so unfortunately I cannot simply move the card to another port. I am running Windows Vista.

I am running short of options! Can anyone please help??

Cheers,

Peter

Hi schmidtp2,

Try the steps in this HP Support document on troubleshooting no sound:

Let us know how it goes.

Make sure you have connect the speaker jack in green color out port which is back on the tower.

Now perform this steps.

repeatedly untila BIOS Setup screenopens.

2. In the BIOS Setup screen, press the F5 key.

3. Select yesor OK(press the Enter key).

4. Press the F10 key. Select yes or OK to save the default settings (press
the Enter key).

5. Start the computer and check for sound. If there is still no sound,
continue with these steps.

6. Use the Left and Right Arrow keys to select the advanced tab.

7. Find and select the advanced menu items that correspond to audio. This
may be one of the following:

8. Onboard Audio, Onboard Audio Options, I/O Device Configuration, On-board
