I just recenly purchased a HP DC7800 and performed a fresh install of Windows 7 64bit on my system. My system specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz, 3GB RAM, ATI Radeon 5400 Series graphics adapter. I set the PC up as normal and before I even installed any Windows updates, the sound didn't work. I get the "no speakers of headphones are plugged in" message even though they are. I checked device manager and the only two that didn't have drivers were the PCI Simple Communications Controller (which I still don't know how to fix) and another PCI related issue that seemed to be fixed by installing the Intel AMT SOL/LMS driver. Also, there is a microphone that is plugged in via USB that works. Here's a screenshot of my device manager with PCI Simple Communications Controller and my audio devices shown.
Any help you guys can provice would be helpful.

Enter BIOS setup and check that the onboard audio is enabled. I believe you have ADI, the driver is HERE
