Volume Control Won't Open

My computer is an HP a1213w. The sound randomly stopped working while watching a YouTube video. The box claims there are no mixers available. I checked to see if my sound card is working properly; it is. I was told to make sure it was on automatic and push start, and I did all that even though it was already done. The speaker icon isn't on the toolbar. iTunes and MySpace music won't play. Sorry for any mistakes.

If you get the error "no Mixers...", Windows Audio Service may have become disabled or stopped.

1. Click Start , Run , and enter services.msc into the Open field.
   A services window opens.
2. Scroll down the list of services and find Windows Audio.
3. Right-click Windows Audio and select Properties .
   Select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown list, and click Start to start the audio service.
4. Click OK and test for sound.

Hi Raster Balster,

I followed youy steps but was stuck because in step 3, the start button was greyed out so i could not click it, my computer still says that there is no mixer.
