audio strange noise and feedback when playing any dvd

I have a Compaq presario sr1750nx running windows xp media center edition 2005. When I listen to music or online audio everything is fine, but when I play a dvd the sound is distorted and muffles. I restored the system to a date before problem started, but it did not help. Any advice? I also checked hp for driver updated and was told lasted update were already done. Thanks

Which DVD drive do you have (go to Device Manager and expand the DVD/CD ROM drives. The name of the drive is there.)?

 

What application are you using to play DVDs?

 

Does this happen on audio CDs or perhaps movies you may have made yourself and burned to DVD?
