I have been through a lot of forums in the past few days trying to find out why when I connect my laptop to my Samsung TV via HDMI, I get no sounds from the T.V, only my laptop, and I only picture. I already been into control panel>hardware and sounds>sounds at leat 55 times already to try to figure out the problem but still no luck. Here's a screenshot:

I have tried making the SPDIF default, but all I get now is NO sounds from my laptop, but I can still see the green bar moving under the volume. I've also tried making either of the three "default communicative device" and etc. The only option I must make default in order to get sounds is the "Speaker and Dual Headphones". The HDMI cable is fine because when I plugged it in another laptop and connected it to another TV, the other TV gets sounds and pictures. It sucks watching T.V with sounds coming from a laptop, so if anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
OS:Windows 7
Sounds:
Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
If you need anymore info on my laptop to diagnose the problem, please ask.

Hi,
Could you post back the full Model No. of your laptop ( ie dv5-1130ea )
Also, is the windows 7 installation an upgrade from Vista or a clean install?
Best wishes,
DP-K

Hi,
Download the following Chipset driver and save it to your Desktop.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41697
When downloaded, double click the file to start the installation. When complete, restart the PC and download the driver for your graphics chip on the link below and save it to the Desktop again.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45499
When you have the file, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation - this will also reinstall the Intel High Definition Audio codec. When complete, restart the PC and then check the Sound Window ( as shown in your link on the original post ) and see if you now have the Intel HD audio codec showing here. If you have, you should find your sound will now work properly over HDMI.
All the best,
DP-K

I downloaded the first link, but the second link after installation, an error message pops up and says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install".

Hi,
Could you confirm whether you have the Intel or Nvidia graphics chip on your laptop?

Hi,
Go to Device Manager, go to Sound, Video and Game Controllers, right click on IDT Audio Driver, and click Uninstall. Right click on Intel Audio Driver as well if listed, and click uninstall.
Once done, click Start->All Programs->PC Help and Tools->REcovery Manager, click Hardware Driver Installation. Select IDE Audio Driver, and click Install.
Restart the PC. Go to Sound Window in Control Panel, on Playback tab, right click on Empty Space, select 'Show Hidden Devices', select Disabled Devices. Select HDMI output, and click Set As Default.
Check if Sound works through HDMI

I'm having a similar issue. When I connect HDMI cable, I get no sound through the TV. I'm not exactly what you call tech savvy, but I can follow directions if anyone can help.
ProBook 4510s
OS Win 7 Pro
Under SOUND in Device Manager it says I have
Intel(R) High Definition Audio HDMI
&
SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio
