I have a similar problem as the other poster. No sound from my speakers. I have been on the phone with HP support on 2 occasions for an hour at a time. I can hear music from my headphones but not from speakers. The guy said it was a problem with my speakers, not the computer.
Do I need an adaptor as well?

Hi jasonod,
If you hear sound through headphones, that means your PC sound is working. To help figure out the problem, we'll need a little more info from you.
How are you connecting your speakers to the PC?
Have the speakers ever worked?
You might want to watch this HP Support Video on troubleshooting sound issues. It should cover everything you need to know to find out why your speakers aren't working.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi, Jason: Did you ever get your Boston BA7500G speakers to work with your Pavillion? If so, what changes did you make in your connections? With my Pavillion 6210f, I can only get sound out of the front speakers but not the rear ones or the subwoofer. (Boston's lime-green plug is in the Pavillion's lime-green audio-out jack. All connections to the subwoofer are as color coded and previous used on a ca. 2001 Gateway computer.) Thanks to anyone for suggestions!

RE: Correction/additions to my 6-17-2010 post above. Like Jason and Dave, I am getting NO sound from ANY of my Boston speakers. (I mistook the sound from my monitor speakers --- sorry!). From my subsequent on-line research, it would seem obvious that I’m not going to get digital signals to the speakers when they are plugged (via Boston’s stereo mini-plug) into HP’s “Audio Line Out” (lime green). Can’t find anyway to switch HP’s output here from analog to digital. But the HP tower (Pavilion 6210f) does have a coaxial (RCA) jack (orange-coded) for “digital audio out”. Perhaps this is the (almost too obvious or too hopeful) solution? Can’t find anyone selling coaxial=RCA plug to mini-plug jack adapters, but cables with an RCA plug at one end and a mini-plug at the other do exist. (I.e., the latter plug would go into the Boston’s subwoofer.) Before I invest in such a cable, anyone with insight as to whether or not this might work? Finally, FWIW, here’s another link about this same issue:

Thanks! Richard
