Why when i have upgrade from xp to win 7 and i can't use internal speaker in computer HP Compaq dx7400 Microtower PC

Yeah, I have the same problem.

For starters there are no sound drivers on the HP page for dx7400.

Hardware is OK for sure, because sound speaker was working one day ago on WinXP.

Drivers in Win7 are installed, no errors in Device Manager.

We have 10 dx7400 machines, all with the same problem, every other model is fine.

It is interesting that for example same headphones work in you plug them in on the back of the PC, but not in the front (again, it was working on WinXP).

Help would be appreciated.

I have three HP DX-7400 and there is no sound from the front panel with Windows 7 but on Windows XP every thing fine.

I have downloaded the Vista audio driver from HP DX 7400 VISTA drivers

during the drivers installation on WIN7 will appear an error but it's ok just click OK and exit the istaller, now go to the device manager and reinstall the sound driver, go to the driver directory on C:\SWSetup and update the driver manual from ther, it will inform you that the update was successfully install, restart the PC and every thing work great!

Hi:

Normally if you install the latest driver directly from Realtek, you can get your internal speaker to work:

Accept the agreement. Download and install the first driver on the list.
