Cannot create file c:\hp\bin\setres.log

Hi,

 

After doing a recovery on my computer successfully   I got the message that recovery was complete and restart or turn off. I restart go through the windows first steps , speakers working.enter country, time then after it says done hit finish I get the above error. I can't start from last known or go in with safe mode. Any one have any ideas ?

 

Comp is Compaq presario sr1230nx AMD.

 

Appreciate for any help.

I have the same problem! mine is HP. I've read that it might be a problem with the mboard. Anyone find any solutions yet??

What kind of recovery was run?

F11 - takes about 20 minutes

User Created Recovery Disc - about an hour

Support Sent Recovery Disc - up to 3 hours

 

Errors in Recovery regardless of model are caused by a couple of things.

1. There is something plugged in to the PC besides Keyboard Mouse and Monitor.

2. Users don't let the recovery finish - especially with Disc based recovery which takes a little longer

 

Recovery app is very stable and works very well, I would run the recovery again and make sure everything is unplugged - especially the network cable. And don't touch it until it is finished.
