Hi,
My computer is infected with a virus and will not bootup and now when I try to run the system recovery by pressing F10, it tries to load the recovery process and then gives me a blue screen of death error KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. Unfortunately I have not created a recovery disk. I have searched the hp site for recovery disk but it doesnt carry it anymore. Can anyone help me with this problem.
Thanks

Hi,
Your Recovery Discs are available Here.
Using these to reinstall the opearating system will also re-create the Recovery Partition.

Hi Davidpk,
Thanks for the link to get the recovery disk. I have one more question, Is it possible to create a recovery disk manually from the D: drive if I can get access to it. I am now trying to get a friend to get me a installation disk for xp pro. If I can get to install xp on the C: drive, is it possible to create the recovery disk.
With regards to WB2001's post, I am not able to bootup the computer to either safemode or regular mode
Thanks

Hi,
I know what you mean, but the problem would be that you wouldn't have the Recovery Disc Creator application on the C Drive which would be required to create the Recovery Discs. Also, as you mention, trying to run the Recovery from the Hard Drive fails, it's quite likely that the Recovery Partition has corrupted in some way so may produce worthless discs if this could be done.

DP-K

hi,
Thanks for the reply. I got the winxp pro installed now but there are some drivers missing. When I check the device manager there is an exclamation mark on the following.
Multimedia video controller
PCI Simple Communications Controller
SM Bus controller
Unknown device
Video Controller
Video Controller(VGA Compatible)
Can anyone let me know where I can download these drivers
Thanks

Hi,
Install the following drivers - These are all I've been able to find at the moment.
After the installations, restart the PC, check Device Manager and let me know what's still missing.
Regards,
DP-K

Hi,
Try downloading and installing the driver at the bottom of the page linked below.
Restart after the installation and check Device Manager again.

Hi DP-K
Thanks for the link. Installed the video drivers now there is one item in the device manager with an exclamation mark ie Unknown device, which I do not know what it is.
Other than that everything seem to be ok
Thanks
