I have a Pavilion a1420n with Windows XP and want to do a clean install. A Windows XP disk was not provided with the computer. How can I do a clean install without the disk(s)?

Hello russelldir, Here is a link that has some information on how to restore your system from the recovery partition on your hard drive, since you mentioned you do not have the Recovery Restore disk.
Essentially you just backup all your data first that you may need later since the hard drive will be reformatted and all the data wiped from the hard drive. You should choose to perform a destructive recovery.
When the system boots and you see the HP logo, start tapping the F-10 key to enter the HP Recovery Restore Utility. Just follow the onscreen instructions from there.
Please click the White Kudos star on the left, to say thanks.
Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem.
