Just a few days ago my computer froze while on it and shut off. And since then it will not load to the windows It shuts off and a blue screen showed up beginning with 0x0000009f. I read some post about using a recovery disk but I do not have one. I also tried to do a system recovery by pressing f11 and only once it let me choose to but it failed to complete. So I am out of options and not looking forward to spending a lot of $$ to take it to a professional. Any help will be appreciated.

BSOD (blue screen of death) ,as it is called when you get a shutdown and the blue screen with letters, can be hard to diagnose if you aren't comfortable with removing hardware inside the case. I have seen everything from a bad memory stick to a bad hdd cause this. If the Recovery ran and failed to complete ,with no BSOD, and gave an error it may be the hdd. You will need Recovery Disks to reinstall if you replace the hdd. Since you didn't burn yours using the software on your machine you can order from HP for a small fee.
