So I erased all partitions, checking afterwards that they all seemed to be all zeros.
Ran the 3 recovery disks, and the exact same things happens after disk 3 starts to reinstall. Error 1002.
So disappointing.. Is there anythings else I can do myself at all?

Hi,
When you finished erasing the Hard Drive, did it still show there were partitions present or didi it just show as 1 whole empty drive?

Im not 100% sure I understood the question (Im scandinavian) but when I enter the Killdisk screen it still has the same list of partitions:
Local disk (1: )
Unallocated
Recovery (2: )
Unallocated
I believe that list has remained unchanged since before I erased the partitions.
Does that mean I didnt do it quite right?

Hi,
Everything needs to be erased so that when you view the Hard Drive with Killdisk you just see 1 entry - I haven't got the program with me at the moment, but from what I remember, you should select Hard Drive 0 and press f10.

Allright I see, figured it out now. My list looked a bit different from the tutorial so I had overlooked the "0"-drive.
After erasing that one my list looked like this:
(80h)
Unallocated
So Im guessing I did it right this time. But once I ran the recovery disks the error-story unfortunately repeated itself..

Hi,
The next best suggestion I can make is to order a replacement set of Recovery Discs and see if this solves the issue - I'm not 100% certain it will, but it is probably the most logical and inexpensive option to try next.
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

I had this problem while trying to do a clean installation of Windows Vista for a client. After hours of work and trying to install Windows XP, I finally gave up and upgraded my client to Windows 7 (I have XP and 7 installation disks).
Enough people have had this problem that it should be addressed. It's a huge problem because the hard drive is wiped before the error appears.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to share what I learned during my experience.
