Re: Error during system recovery

Try contacting HP and tell them the recovery discs you created are not working. They might send them out for free.

Greetings

Philippe

Re: Error during system recovery

I talked to them, they told me the price of the discs. They said I'm out of warranty. Do u think its the discs? I forgot to mention I was getting the blue screen of death, which caused me to do a factory reset.

Re: Error during system recovery

Try doing the system restore again and see what happends. And if it's not the discs that are broken, it's your computer that is.

Re: Error during system recovery

[ Edited ]

Have you tried the built-in System Recovery via F11?

Starting a Recovery from the startup logo screen (during system boot)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01867418&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc...

It has options to perform a restore point, repair the OS, or do a Recovery.

WARNING, please read this carefully:

Under I need help immediately, click System Recovery .

Select a backup option:

If you have already backed up personal files or you do not want to back up personal files, select Recover without backing up your files , and then click Next . Continue to the next step.

If you have not backed up personal files, select Back up your files first (recommended) , and then click Next .

Hope this advice and help turns your problem around.

Re: Error during system recovery

Has this ever been solved ?

I have just got exactly the same kind of error, therefore it cannot be the hardware that is at fault. It MUST be the recovery disk - or contents of it.

Therefore if the production process i.e. recovery manager software is at fault then it should be fixed foc by HP.

Is there anyone out there ?

Re: Error during system recovery

Is the recovery through hidden partition tried yet? On boot up, tap F9 ( or F11) continuosly until a wziard for system recovery pops up.

Just follow the intructions onwards. Try also the recovery manager under "Programs".

Re: Error during system recovery

I have a Pavilion Elite 9220y and am getting the same error code (0xe0ef0001) immediately after starting the recover process of resetting to factory image. I have tried both methods of using the factory image on the D: partition and using the recovery DVD disks created through the HP utility. An interesting issue is that when I use the Recovery DVD's, Recovery Manager only sees the Factory Image on the HDD D: drive. I would expect it to see the image on the DVD drive E:. I have tried as many "tricks" that I can find, using the recovery manager from within Win7, from start up using F11, Recovery DVDs, and evening copying the image onto another network machine.

I too feel that this is an issue with the HP / Cyberlink software as the machine is function correctly and I can make a copy of the FACTORY_IMAGE data onto other machines. This seems to suggest the data is not corrupt. I had just made the DVD set of Recovery Discs a day ago and there were no errors reported during this process. I am rebuilding the machine to hand it down to my son and it is function fine. I am just doing this to create a clean slate after I had transferred all my software. This has been very frustrating as it is a confirmed issue (at least through these postings), but I have not seen any solution yet.

It would be great to see an HP response to this issue.

Re: Error during system recovery

hi there

i think i solved this problem and here is the solution

first you must know there is many reasond to get this error

1-dvd's could be scratched

2-dvd rom could be corrupted

3- or you had a problem in your hard disk drive(propably it could be a MBR problem)

by the way MBR means Master Boot Record of the hard disk drive

so

we need to erase or reset the Mbr

follow these steps

1-download and burn hiren's boot cd

2-back up your data if necessary >>>if your windows was totally corrupted you can use mini xp from hiren

3-boot from cd

4-choose dos programs

5-choose mbr tools

6-choose mbr work utility

7-reset EMBR by pressing Num 3 and confirm

8-reset Mbr by pressing Num 4 and confirm you will get a warning that the hard disk will need to re partitioned

9-press E to exit

10-now you can try your clean dvd's to make a recovery process

Best of luck

and i realy made and it works 100%

hope it helps all of you
