@kordell11

You can purchase a hdd at most retail stores,though I'm not sure if you need an IDE or SATA drive without knowing which machine you have.If you will post the model of your machine someone can look up specs and offer suggestions on a new hdd.

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

@kordell11

Your machine Specs page is HERE You have a 250gb SATA hdd. You should get at least that large to use your Recovery Disks.You can use larger hdd, just no smaller than original.

You should be able to purchase a hdd at any store that sells PC's  or components. Staples,Best Buy, even Wal Mart carries a few.

Examples: HERE

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

[ Edited ]

Hdd's fail as all devices eventually do. In my experience it seems that SATA drives last less years than the older IDE interface drives ,though more so in laptops where I have seen quite a few fail after less than 2 yrs.

Your hdd seems to have given a reasonable length of service.The life of hdds in a machine is one reason USB External drives have become so very popular for file backup.

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

I have a Pavilion Media Center m8100y desktop running Vista Ultimate 32-bit with a mirrored Raid 1.   I am unable to restart windows - get blue logo page and windows attempts to load but fails each time.

I have run ckdisk, startup repair and my bootable HP hardware diagnostic CD - all indicate no hardware problems only software/configuration issue.

I have attempted system recovery to factory settings via recovery manager from HDD and my self-created HP recovery CDs.  I have successfully loaded all 3 recovery CDs (or so it appeared) one time.  The recovery manager indicated that the HDD windows partition was reformatted and original content reinstalled.  But upon restart - no change.  I am currently doing a factory image recovery from the CDs again.

I am unable to use the original disk drive that the CDs were created on.  Other symptoms include streaks across monitor as if computer is unable to send appropriate pixelation info?

Any suggestions as to how to recover the operating system at least?  Is it possible to access the recovery from the Raid 1 backup?  I was planning to do a custom install to Windows 7 professional (cannot due an upgrade) soon.  Would I be able to just do the custom install of Windows 7 if the recovery disks will not work?  I have also an external HDD with a backup of my C drive but I may not be able to restore from it if my operating system is different.

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

I have an HPE-210f running WIN7 64bit that's been having RAID errors for the last few months. Aside from that everything seemed to be working so I ignored the messages.

Last week I started having major problems with system lockups then the sytem would not boot at all. I tried several system restores with no success then decided to go ahead and try the System Recovery and after it started the system stopped with an error message

error code 0xe0ef0003

I re-tried the recovery a 2nd time using the Recovery disk set that I had created when I first got the machine and that failed as well. So I do not have a working HPE-210f at this time. I can't get chat support using that machine because it's dead in the water so to speak.

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

Hello there,

I discovered the hard drive on my mother-in-law's G62-222US was going bad - so I used the HP Recovery software to perform a backup before wiping the drive and attempting a reinstall.

No go on the reinstall - bad drive indeed - so I replaced the drive and then used the recovery media to get the system back.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the files that I backed up using Recovery Manager to the system - there doesn't seem to be any option to do this.

Is this possible?  What am I missing?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Re: HP OS Recovery Disc-Hp Recovery Manager

I recently used your program to create recovery disks.  When I try and use the restoration portion of the program, it always fails at disk 6 of 8.  I have tried "global" restoration and tarketing specific types of files.  The problem remains the same for both types of recovery.
