Vista Disk Recovery Freezes Disk 2 at 21%

I attempted to do a full system recovery on my m8100n a few days ago.  I was doing a ful reovery because my hard drive was nearly full and I was having problems finding and deleting the BS I no longer needed. So I copied all of my pics, music, and needed files over to my external hard drive and then entered recovery disk 1. Everything seems fine until I put disk 2 in, then it freezes at 21%.  Any help would be greatly apprecisted

Be sure to disconnect everything except the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Be patient as it may take a much longer time.

Hello mjp1531, It may be that the disk 2 is a faulty disk and have some errors.

You might try Big_Dave's suggestion, and if you still cannot get the Restore to run from the DVDs, you might try pressing the F-11 key

when the HP Logo appears and see if you can restore the system from the D: HP Recovery Restore partition.

I have heard on VISTA installations on older PCs taking overnight.

So I am finally able to purchase some recovery disks. After a 45 minute call with HP, they told me that because my pc is over 5 years old, they cannot get me any disks. Now what? Am i completely screwed?

Vista is very problematic. I do not think no one is happy about that.
