bios files

I have a pavilion p6115y running Windows 7.  I need the .bin file for my computer.  It seems my bios got corrupted and hopefully this file will help.  I have a Seagate external hard drive that may have caused the problem.  The computer is only 2 years old and it's out of warranty.

Re: bios files

The HP/Compaq BIOS for your computer can be downloaded from HERE. You will need to extract the files using an archive utility like 7zip or run the softpaq until it advises you to "close open apps before proceeding". Leave the BIOS installer window open and now search your computer for a file named "VLE5.22". This is ".bin" file you are referring to.

Re: bios files

Unfortunately this won't work.  All I get once I start the computer is to reboot and select drive.  My computer is not recognizing ANY drives for me to even put in a recovery disk.  An .exe will not work since we can't even get a command line.  BIOS does not show any drives.  Is there a way to get the BIOS to recognize a disk, manually or automatically?

Re: bios files

The HP M2N78-LA (Violet) motherboard in your computer is known to be problematic. Losing drives is one of the issues this motherboard has. Please search this forum concerning issues with the M2N78-LA Violet series of motherboards.

Re: bios files

The IT guy at work tried this and it didn't work.  Any other suggestions other than buying a new computer?
