can't load xp pro with HP Restore cd

Trying to Install a new replacement hdd in HP Compaq dx2200 microtower PC with hp factory restore cd that is looking for xp home edition operating sysytem cd, and will not continue restore with xp pro cd that came with the desktop pc. Is there a workaround that will allow loading the xp pro edition cd?

Product: dx2200 with Pentium 4 524 Processor (3.06-GHz)

Pre-installed with XP Pro SP 2

Restore CD - HP Restore Plus! version 19.1: CD Kit 399905-B22

Operating System CD - XP Pro SP 2: CD Kit 394378-002

Hi:

Doesn't the menu give you the option to change the OS from XP Home to XPP?

All the business PC recovery disks I have ever used (d530, dc7100, dc7600) come up to the screen with the OS to install and sometimes it is defaulted to XPP but sometimes it comes up XP home and I just drop down on the window and select XP Pro.

If you can't do that, there is no workaround.

I may have missed the dropdown on the initial Restore load, and can not get back to that option. Successive attempts to Restore does not go back to the beginning, and only reinstalls files...there are no options, or requests for information (e.g., operating system, language, etc.).

Do you know a way to start from scratch?

Hi:

Insert the setup disk (not the disk labeled with the OS). Restart your PC. At the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to get the one time boot menu and select the CD-ROM as the boot device. Then boot from the CD and you should get the installation routine from the beginning.

When the operating system window comes up, you should be able to drop down in that window and select the applicable OS (XPP).

I never get an option to choose the OS system. It just loads automatically.
