hard drive fell apart,loud grinding and fails diagnostic s,no drive detected !

Pavilion elite m9517c 64 bit replaced sata drive w/same size and speed . have no recovery disks,have my product key for vista,but no disk so i procured a new copy of vista ultimate (it had vista home premium) but upon loading it , a popup says that it requires a dvd driver and lists several ways to load it (such as usb).How do I come up with this driver.? Bluray multidrive dual layer lighscribe. I found only seven drivers in downloads ..All updates. Boy any other PC is a piece of cake but.........

You would find it far simpler to install the OS with recovery discs. How to order recovery discs.
If you can identify the part number on the back of the DVD drive,then we can see if the firmware updates for the drive on the support site apply to it.
If the manufacturer's name is also known, firmware updates can also be found at the manufacturers website under product support.
Is the new Windows Vista Ultimate installation DVD the 64-bit version?
The way around this installation issue is to perform a Windows Vista hard disk installation.

Thank you Erico After lots of reading I'm convinced recovery disks are the way to go, but the recovery option link you provided appears to be a dead end, Any suggestions?

This software and drivers page for your desktop has an information document and an order link for the recovery disc set. Use only Internet Explorer for the recovery disc link. Google Chrome will not work. If you don't see the following web documents just try another browser. Read the instruction document before you try to order.
