Hello, I keep getting a call from a 303 area code number and I finally answered today.  He said that he was calling from HP and that there was data transmitted to HP server that malicious files were being downloaded automatically from the internet and started a couple of weeks ago. I told him to give me a call back.  

 

Does HP usually call their customers with these situations?

Hi:

 

The call you received today was a scam.

 

No one from HP, Microsoft or any reputable PC company will call you out of the blue and tell you that there is something wrong with your PC, etc.

 

Some of these guys know your name, phone number, and even the PC's model number and serial number, so they sound legit.
