I have a registry error that I cannot fix and I believe that it is caused my printer to not be able to communicate with my computer. I uninstalled and now try to reinstall the software for my printer and I cannot get it to work. I have done the many hours with hp support by phone and they have diagnosed the problem as state in my first sentence, but since I am past warranty on my pc, they will not give me support for my registry errors. Can you help me?

You probably should try going back to a known good system restore point before your problems started occurring.
Right mouse click on my computer, then properties, then system protection and click on the restore button. When the restore window opens, click on the box to show all available restore points and then a date when your PC was last working correctly. If you are using Norton AV then be sure to turn off "tamper protection" under the miscellaneous setting before trying the restore process.
The the Windows restore point process doesn't work then backup your data and use the HP Recovery Disks to bring your PC back to a day one factory condition. Then reinstall the printer software.

Thanks for your reply. I have some knowledge, but the restore scares me. I'm afraid to lose all my different downloads that I have paid for, like norton, registry mechanic, etc. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

I don't know if it will help but I was worried about registry errors. I went to paretologic.com and downloaded the PC Health Advisor. The pc health advisor scans your computer and also checks your registry and gives you the option of letting it fix all errors on your system. I purchased a 1 yr subscription for 24.95. Maybe it will work for you too. Good Luck.
