Iona-GL8E
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP mobo that that I am trying to get a bios update for so it will recognize my whole HD space of 3T and possible overclocking. People in forums have bios versions as high as 6.1. There are a few different names and numbers for this board so it's hard to know exactly what I have. One is HP IONA-GL8E 575765-001. Another is MS-761(Iona-GL8E) Belarc does not give specific information but does have a longer number. I'm sure the board is out of service and have been searching to find a bios update with discouraging results. I have inserted an image of the information. It's basically a board manufactured by MSI and the chipset is H57. So I found an update from MSI for H57 chipset that fixes everything I need. Problem is if it does not work I could kill my system. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H57MED65.html#down-bios

It is not in the original tower so there is no info I can get from that.

Zyrus72,

Welcome to the forum.

II would be best for you to NOT ask question MULTIPLE times, i.e.,

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/Hardware/message-id/389403

and to not add your question to the end of an "old" question.

Thank you.

P.S. What's the "vintage" of your motherboard?

As you know, some older motherboards simply do not support a disk-drive larger than 2 Terabytes, and the manufacturer has "solved" that issue by producing a newer motherboard.

Can you find a new motherboard that is compatible with the CPU in your current motherboard, and compatible with the RAM in your current motherboard, to "repurpose" those components (and your video-card) ?

@Zyrus72,

HP installs their own BIOS.  Using an MSI BIOS will "brick" your HP board.

This has been mentioned several times on the forum.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

Where did I ask multiple times? No I cannot afford a new board.

Suggestions:

1. Abandon the idea;

2. Install the non-HP BIOS update, and hope that it does not "brick" your motherboard;

3. Buy a new motherboard.

I don't see any other options.

It seems I have a few choices but I'm not sure any of them are real deal or for my specific board. Some have no dates of the bios update release they have. Yes I am desperate for it to recognize the full capacity for my 3TB drive and if I choose to overclock.

And the final one from MSI that manufactured the board.  https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H57MED65.html#down-bios

And thank you for your comment.
