I have a hp pavilion desktop (model 7000m-I think)-I have never been able to get the front 2 USB2 ports (on the front connectivity panel) - Has anyone got any solution to this problem?

Thank you for your help. I have now located the model as a Pavillion Media Centre TVm7670.uk. I far as I know the ports have not worked since new (I had no need to use them at all for quite sometime). Would you have any more suggestions? Many thanks again.

Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Plug your PC back in a give it a go.
You might also try going into the Device Manager, locate your USB devices, right mouse click and uninstall the driver for each USB device you see. Now reboot and Windows will re-install the USB driver.
What OS are you using? If XP, then be sure to apply the service packs. SP 3 is the latest. If VISTA, then SP 2 is the latest. You can find the service packs at Microsoft.

Have you tried the steps of going through Device Manager and reinstalling the drivers?
