Z27s display
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I purchased a new Z27s monitor on Amazon 9 months ago.  One week ago, after a scan with Avast, the lower half of the screen started flickering and I have horozontal black lines across the entire display.  It clears up for a few minutes once in a while but overall, it's a banded, flickering mess.  I've used Avast since I purchased the monitor so I don't think it would suddenly cause problems, but I could be wrong.

I've tried pluging it directly in the wall instead of a strip, using an outlet that's not on the same breaker, removing all phones, turning off nearby networking/wifi devices, hooking it up to a different computer to make sure it wasn't my GPU, using a different hdmi cable and using different hdmi ports.  Nothing helps.  Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Also, when I checked out the HP warranty,  I found the product number is not associated with the serial number.  I'm wondering if that means I have counterfeit equipment.

@catlady4114, welcome to the forum.

I don't believe that Avast had anything to do with your problem, either.  I suggest going into the Device Manager / Monitors / right click on your monitor / select Update Driver Software / Search automatically for updated driver software.

If there is an updated driver it will find it and install it.  If this doesn't solve your problem, I suggest contacting HP Customer Service for help.  I wouldn't let the problem go or your waranty will run out.

Thanks old_geekster.  I did update the driver for the monitor and GPU.  For a few minutes the flickering was more subdued but it reverted to the flickering band.

You are very welcome.  Thank you for the additional information, @catlady4114.

If your monitor is still under waranty, I suggest contacting HP Customer Service for help.  I don't want your waranty to run out and still have the problem.  Please let me know what they say.
