HP Pivillion p6280t running Windows 7 with DVI graphics card won't display digital signal. Monitor screen goes black as Windows is loading. The graphics board and monitor are connected with a DVI cable. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix.

Tawna, what is the model of your monitor? This information will let us review the specs for it.

Tho monitor is a VX2035wm ViewSonic LCD. The graphics card and the monitor have both VGA and DVI ports. When I use a VGA cable and plug it into the VGA ports the monitor works. Since I paid $ 80 extra for the DVI graphics card, I would like to get get the better screen resolution with the digital signal. When I use the DVI cable, windows 7 starts to load then I get a message "no digital signal" and the screen goes black.

Hi all -
I had this same problem -- black screen on DVI monitor as windows was coming back from sleep mode -- with my Pavilion p6218f shortly after I purchased it in early 2010. On HP Support's advice, I downloaded and installed the sp44611 driver file, and that fixed the problem.
Since then, I have done a full system restore, and now the black screen on startup from sleep mode has returned...I no longer have the sp44611 file (doh!), and can't find it anywhere on the HP website.
Can anyone help me out...tawna? Did you save a copy of the download?

Anybody have the SP44611.EXE download, or post a link to it? I just called support and was instructed to pay a one-time $99 fee or establish a support plan for $49 / month for the first year, $19 / month thereafter. For that price I might as well purchase a new video card (if that resolves the issue) or a non-HP computer. Thanks!
