I tried to connect my hp computer to my HDTV like this:1st we put a DVI to hdmi adapter on the back of our computer then connected it to my TV via high quality HDMI cable. All we got was static but when I messed around on the computer a bit we got picture on the TV but it was in and out with static and red lines. The next day I tried the same thing with my dell latitude d620 and it worked the moment I plugged it in. By the way they are both running windows 7. HELP ME !

I have a Radeon X 300/550/1050 Series with updated driver for primary monitor and Radeon X300 series secondary defalt monitor. I have a Y connection from the computer to an HP flat panel 17" and to a VGA - HDMI converter. VGA from computer to converter and HDMI from converter to HDTV. When XP starts I have the startup on both the HP Flat panel and the Panasonic 50" TV but then the TV has a message that it has no signal , make sure it is connected etc. In the XP display settings dialogue , it shows two monitors but after clicking on the second monitor and answering yes to enable that monitor, it won't enable nor will the extend desktop on this monitor stay after checking the box. There seems to be some connection here because of the startup reaction on both screens but that lasts only for startup. I initially had this same hookup with a brand new HP Windows 7 OS but it appeared to have but one graphics card so I hooked up my XP Media Center Edition 2005. Is it possible to complete this configured hookup or do I need to return to the new PC and heve another grapics card installed ?
