HP ENVY Recline 27-k201nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm having trouble displaying a screen with HDMI in on my desktop. I have connected my laptop (also HP) to my desktop with a display to HDMI cable. My desktop does not recognize another screen. My laptop goes blanc, it recognizes the display out cable.

Just installed a new driver for Windows 10: Driver-Videocard - Nvidia 10.18.13.5330 Rev.A, but didn't do anything after restarting. The button: HDMI in on the left side doesn't work either.

Does anyone know what to do?

Thans in advance!

Regards

Janneke

Hi @jANSKIBIET,

I read your awesome post. The bios is not up to date. there is a bios update for windows 8.1. I presume that is what got shipped with the PC and later on you upgraded to windows 10.

Please check these links out: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/w10tp-not-detecting-m...

Do not click on any ads as it is a 3rd party website.

If this does not resolve the issue and if worked with windows 8.1, please back up your files and roll back the operating system to windows 8.1.

Then please update the bios, chipset, video and audio drivers from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-Recline-27-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series/6876...

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Trust me I have done all I can to help by keeping your best interest in mind. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

A commendable job was done by attempting to diagnose the issue before posting your question in the HP forums. Kudos to you for that. We value your relationship with HP and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.

First off, it could be an issue because of the windows 10 upgrade. I checked and found that unit was shipped with windows 8.1.

Please try a few steps.

Please uninstall the existing graphics drivers software.

Then visit this link http://hp.com/drivers and update the bios, chipset drivers, video drivers and audio drivers.

Hi DavidSMP,

I uninstalled all graphic drivers and then I installed all drivers that where supported for my system. I don't know what a bios is but hope it's one of them?

Is there anything else I can do?

Hi DavidSMP,

I found out about de bios in this page: http://support.hp.com/be-nl/document/c00131948#AbT0. I followed the step, but the bios was not mentiond at the driver page. So I guess I have the latest version of the bios:

AMI 80.12,19-2-2014

for processor:

Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 - 4590T CPU@ 2.00 GHz, 2001 MHT, 4 core('5)

So if there is anything else I can do to make this work?

Okay I did everything you said, even back up all my files and roll back. I wasn't possible to roll back to 8.1, it rolled back automatic to W10.

Then I checked for updating the bios and all the drivers. For the bios there were no updates vissible in the HP support assistent. For all the other driver there were so I updated them. Still did not fix the HDMI in input. :Crying:

So I did some more research and I found a topic about HP my Display. It should be on my system but it wasn't. So I downloaded it. And guess what..

The HDMI input works just fine now!!  It was just a little software thing. If I had known that, it wouldn't cost me the whole afternoon. But I'm so happy it is fixed, I don't care.
