DVD won't recognize disks

After upgrading from Vista Home 64 to Win7 Pro 64, DVD won't recognize most disks including an OEM HP printer install disk and a Microsoft Office install disk. It recognized 1 of 3 DVD's and would not recognize a music CD. No error messages. Diagnostic says drive is OK. Model Optiarc RW AD-7201S5. HP upgrade says machine is up-to-date. What can I do to get back in business?
