HI Jeff54:

Thank you for your inquiry:

Windows 8.1 is a very recent release.

I would try uninstalling the hp support assistant and then reinstalling  to see if the error persists.

I hope this helps.

Hi there.. Thank you for asking this question.. I am facing the same. Got a new lappy with Windows 8. HP Support Assistant used to notify me for required Driver updates. But after the OS updation, i can see the following window pop up, eveytime i hit the "question mark" button on the Start up tab.

" A Restart is required to complete the installation of updates."  ( this has two action keys .. 1. Restart now, 2. Remind me)

I hope this is a temporary bug as Windows 8.1 has just arrived.

Thanks,

Pranav.

I have recentl dwnloaded and installed win8.1 on my hp dv7 laptop.  HP Support Assistantis no longer working, and so i tried to uninstall it accordingto Sparkle1's suggestion.  I get an error message that stops it from being uninstalled.  I look for the files on my PC an they nolonger exist, but it still apears in "Programs and features".

I downloaded verion 7 of HPSA from the HP site and triedto install it.  I ge the same error as Jeff54.

I am at a loss - I do not have HPSA and I cannot install the new version!!!!

Please help

Hi drros:

Thank you for your reply.

Windows 8.1 is a very recent update.

The HP support assistant  currently only supports up to Window 8.

If it works on Windows 8.1 great, if it does not, you will need to wait for the updated version for Windows 8.1 and then uninstall and reinstall from the download.

When you say it does not work, what happens?

Does it fail to open?

Do you get an error?

Please reply back with the information and I will try to assist you further.

Guys.. sorry for the late reply..

My issue got resolved.. Just uninstall HP Support assistant ( through control panel).. Get a fresh download for your laptop  from HP's website.. mine is working perfect after the re installation.. i will recommend to do this for all your important win 8 ( prior) apps after u have upgraded to 8.1 ..

Thanks and Happy Diwali to all.. God Bless.

Pranav.
