How do I copy a DVD using the Windows Media app?

I have a new HP laptop with HP Media Smart but I'm not smart enought to figure out how to copy a DVD. Can anyone help?

Hi,

 

You will need alternative software  to back-up commercial DVDs as they are copy protected.  Some freeware examples of this type of software are on the link below.

Assuming that the DVD is a homemade DVD and not a commercial DVD (movie or similar) then ImgBurn is very good for that and free.  See here: http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

 I own an HP Pavilion a1730n desktop and have never tried duplicating a dvd. It's a dvd made for our 50th anniversary party containing dozens of pictures and music. I have just the one cd/dvd drive ( no expansion Bay), so how would I do it. I assume I have to put the completed dvd into my computer first and then write to the cd/dvd bay? Thanks
