a6200n CPU upgrade and RAM upgrade

Greetings,

Can I swap out my Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W for a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Brisbane 3.1GHz Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core? I'm pretty sure the mobo will handle up to 89 watts, but I'm not sure if there would be bios issues?

Also my current RAM is 1.8v, if I install high performance RAM with a different voltage, will the mobo recognize it?

Re: a6200n CPU upgrade and RAM upgrade

Non JEDEC RAM will not work with that board.  As for the CPU, an extra 500MHz isn't going to do much for speed.  Those who claim otherwise are noobs without scientific data to support this assertion.  In general, you'll need to bump core speed by 50% before you'll notice the gain with CPU intensive applications like video editing or high-end gaming.  There will be no change with stuffs like web-browsing and office duties.

Re: a6200n CPU upgrade and RAM upgrade

I wasn't really expecting much of a speed gain, I just happen to pick the CPU up at a going out of business sale for $45, not sure what to do with it...looks like eBay is a good option.

Thanks for the input!
