Hi...i am just setting up my projet 8600. I purchased it about 3-4 yrs ago, but never unpacked it. The panel does not light up nor will it function. The language selection is /was functioning and it was automatically set on eng. I accidentally changed it to dutch, and I cannot change it back. Also, I am wondering if I am suppose to cut this big loop configuration inside the printer. I didn't do it, but thought it might be part if the Pa king to keep things in place.PLEASE HELP!!! I was so excited and looking forward to not running back and forth to the library to print.

Hi @Babs__99.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums.

First, nothing should need to be cut. If I am correct you are referring to is attached to the printhead.

This Setup Guide should help.

As for the language portion, I'm a bit confused. I can assist with that issue, but you mentioned that the panel does not light up or respond to touch.

These links should help.

HP Printers - The Printer Display Is Blank or Black

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer Series - The Touchscreen Does Not Respond

If you manage to get the touch screen responding, here are the steps to change the language.

Press the arrow to the right, then touch the icon of a wrench and a gear to access the Setup menu.

The fifth option on this list will be "Preferences". Touch it.

On the next screen press the second option for languages. Scroll through the selections until you find English.

Thankfully the languages are written in their respective tongue and not the current selection.

Let me know if those steps worked for you. If they did, that’s awesome! Give us some reinforcement by hitting the solution and kudos buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
