I was playing a game for about three hours had it sitting in my lap when it randomly just shutdown and would not turn on. I tried to turn it on the light stayed on for about five minutes with a black screen then the power light shut off and now will not turn back on.

Hi @Kfos90,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

As I understand the computer shut down randomly and it won't turn on. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help to resolve the issue,

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any software or hardware changes on the PC?

Was there any power failure/update/reset interrupted recently?

What happens when you try to turn it on?  Does it light up at all?

Do you have it plugged in or are you trying to turn on using battery power?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook

Next thing, I would suggest here is to follow the steps suggested in the guided troubleshooter for No Power or No Boot Troubleshooting - On the bottom, there is a button to proceed to the next step.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.
