HP Photosmart 5520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Android device and have downloaded HP eprint. It works fine for printing photos and all other docs but I cannot connect to AOL mail.

I have read other posts and tried to change the Hostname to "imap@aol.com", I am using IMAP port 993 and have input my email address and pasword which I know are correct.I have ticked the use SSL box.

The only entry that I was not sure of is the "Description Field" as there is no guidance on what to put here. Is this important as won't try to connect unless something is input here? I have just typed "AOL"

Please help as this is driving me mad and have spent a few hours looking at this.

Thanks

Hi Nickb2202,

This is what you had said "Hostname - imap@aol.com (used)" take the @ sign out and change it to a . instead, then volia that will fix your problem.

Ryan

Hi Nickb2202,

I want you please, to do and the following:

Spoiler

IMAP Setup Information:

  • IMAP Username: YourUsername@aol.com (or @love.com, @games.com, etc.)

  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com (Use port 143 for standard or 993 for SSL connections)

  • SMTP Outgoing Server Address: smtp.aol.com Set the port to 587

  • SMTP Username: YourUsername@aol.com (or @love.com, @games.com, etc.)

  • SMTP Password: password you use to login to Mail

For a secure connection, check the SSL option for IMAP/POP and TLS for SMTP in your mail program.

This should work for you, by the way what e-mail client may I ask are you using?

Yours faithfully,

Ryan

Thanks Ryan for your reply

I am using the HP eprint application for Android

It only gives me the following fields to enter

 email address

 password

Description (no idea what should be input here)?

Then advanced options:

Hostname - imap@aol.com (used)

IMAP - 993 used

ticked box for Use SSL

Response I get "the email or password that you entered is not working Please try again.

I know they are right as used to set up aol mail on device and also eprint on my ipad - all fine????

Maybe a problem with aol server today?

Thanks
