HP Envy 5540 printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I removed the 8.5x11 paper and printed several 5x7 pictures. I removed the 5x7 photo paper and reinstalled the 8.5x11 paper in the main tray. Printer will not recognize the 8.5x11 paper. I removed the paper and slid the paper guides back and forth and reinstalled the paper. No change in the problem. When I select "Copy" on the printer screen and go to settings, it displays "Tray and Paper Main Tray: 5x7" If I try to print from the computer and select 8.5x11 paper, the printer does not recognize that paper size and continues to display 5x7 paper.

HI,

Open and close the paper tray, there it will show on the screen the paper size.

Click on Modify and change the paper size as US Leter and the paper type as plain paper, then check for any difference.

Yes, this solved my issue. I did not realize I could select a paper size on the printer screen. I was trying to do that from the computer. Very easy fix if you know what to do.

Thank you very much!
