My printer has suddenly started printing with black boxes randomly with a black looking tick / smudge on it 

I've cleaned the ink cartridges re-aligned & cleaned the paper ... Still no joy

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are getting black boxes randomly with a black smudge. I would be happy to help you. 

 

Are you having this issue printing from all applications?

 

Please try the steps listed in this document: Fixing Print Quality Problems.

If you aren't getting the smudges when printing the Print Quality Diagnostics page then it would be software related.

 

What applications have you tried?

 

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help, please click the "Accept as Solution" and the "Thumbs Up" buttons. Let me know how you make out. Cheers!
